The good folks at indie statik wrote a nice article about Ace of Spades and Build and Shoot that includes an interview with Stack.

It is good read I recommend you check it out.

http://indiestatik.com/2012/12/19/build ... took-over/
Ben Aksoy released Ace of Spades back in April of 2011 to nothing more than a whisper from people who had heard about it and started to play in its servers. It was a simple game, one that could be best described as Minecraft meets Team Fortress, or any online multiplayer FPS really. Therefore it tapped into two popular and community-focused game blueprints and did a neat job at bringing the best of both of these worlds together. Most important of the game’s design was that it was simple through and through. From the graphics, to the gameplay and how the community were able to interact with the game – adding their own content and hosting their own servers – Ace of Spades was friendly to pretty much all. On top of that, it was completely free, so what’s not to love?

They really said what needed to be said. And said it clearly.

Good read. Says a lot of good things about B&S and makes a lot of great points.

You know, both here and in the gamespy article, build and shoot is referred to as a game or software package itself, not just a website or community. Maybe this is the plan already, but I say to hell with accuracy--if you can't beat 'em, join 'em--when Iceball is far enough along, let's rename it Build and Shoot.

Good! This site is getting more exposure! I just hope we don't get a stream of immature kids coming in. And we now know Stack's name.... Hmmmmm.....

Here's another hint: he lives in Lancaster with the Amish Mafia.

On-topic: I'm glad other sites are taking notice of Build and Shoot and giving the full story behind what happened between .75 and 1.0. It's sad to see what Ace of Spades has become, but we mustn't ever give up supporting what Jagex wants to forget.

I bet there was and it is still going on.

First it was Gamespy, now these guys. Finally some gaming website had the guts to say that Ace(not AoS, Ace is a totally diff game from AoS IMO) isn't a good game. Blue_Happy1

Well...uh...I don't want to alarm anyone...but...I'm pretty sure more than a few users would qualify for that label already.

A lot of people are trying to claim Jagex doesn't want anyone to know about B&S and yet there are links to B&S as well as downloads for the original game stickied at the top of the Classic discussion forums on the AoS site. And yet everyday, people continue to post, "Where can I download the original game?" and then some idiot with one post on their account who has obviously already been banned replies, "I WILLZ GET BANZ FOR TELLING DIS BUT GO 2 BUILDANDSHOOT.COM! JAGEX SUXXORS! FUX DEM!" as if there's some sort of conspiracy and the only thing they succeed in is making themselves sound a like an illiterate three year old who has somehow managed to bang out some barely comprehensible drivel on the keyboard and it makes B&S look bad by association.

There's nothing wrong with telling people to check out B&S but please refrain from posting sub-moronic, profanity laden posts to do so. Believe it or not, it doesn't help B&S's cause.
