SS is still in the lead, TSB is in 2nd place with a 6 point comfort zone ahead of Lines. There is only a 4 point difference between 3rd place and 8th place. As a reminder, note that the top 8 teams move on to the playoffs and the end of the regular season is Sept 1st. Right now you need 12 points to guarantee a spot in the top 8.

Season 1 finals is sadly not over with. I know it is somewhat confusing running two seperate seasons concurrently. There are two matches left and it is encouraged both matches happen before sept 1st. If niether match happens, we will award the top team in season 1 regular season as champions. If only the 3rd place match happens the winners of that match would be crowned champion and if season 1 championship match actually happens then they will be the winners.

Also, note season 2 finals will be much more strict compared to season 1. Teams will have deadlines and if there isnt a match by the deadline one or both teams could be disqualified, the final ruling as to which team gets disqualified will be decided by danhezee.

League Map Making Competition!
We are running a League Map making Competition for August! The current submissions are "Land of Cahirs" by Lostmotel, and "Tophut" & "Valley Crossing" by lelue. Here are the guidelines:

1. Good 5 v 5 maps tend to be islands. The limited dimensions promote good team work and gameplay. However, too small of an island turns into a shooting fest, and too large an island causes enemies to hardly run into each other.
2. Both sides of the map should be similar, not necessarily symmetric.

Tawawa

Tawawa is a big island based off a pacific theater battle from WW2. It has a lot of palm trees, as well as multiple paths to get to the enemy base. On the North side of the map, there is a bridge that your team can defend, or they can push from the south and head north-west. The buildings and trees also give you a close qurters combat scenario, but still enough room to rush into the opening if you want to. This map has been in development since April, so great job Articsledder!

Thepolm3 has made a new script that mixes and flips maps around. So far he has made remixes of hallway,antic bridge, and bridge wars. They have all turned out pretty neat too. Click here to download them.

Lines VS Forums


The dust has settled from the mayhem of the Line VS Forums event; Lines came out on top with four intel captures, and the Forums team finished with a single capture. All in all, it was a great event. Thanks for everyone who showed interest and fired their guns.

User SnowShinobi announced he wrote an article about Build and Shoot in a game news blog he's creating. Here is an excerpt from the Article:
The gaming industry’s fanbase is a very strong force. They’ll hack, become legal experts and speculate all kinds of things in order to get or in this case keep, what they love. While this can lead to negative moments (See the cancellation of FEZ II) it can also bring just as many enjoyable moments. Build and Shoot is a community revolving around keeping the classic or beta versions of block based shooter Ace of Spades alive after Jagex bought the property from it’s developer Ben Aksoy and created a game that is widely accepted as mediocre.

The previous community administrators for Ben Aksoy’s self-run community for his game are the ones responsible for reviving the game. After Jagex bought up the game, people were being banned for disliking Jagex’s new take on the project and the old community administrators were fired from their positions. The community became very unhappy because it was no longer the tactical, resource-light game that was based upon skill with the weapons and battlefield.

Modloader by learn_more will soon support custom Kv6 models for both teams as well as custom models for the ally,enemy, and neutral control points.

You'll need to download the game from the Iceball forum at main page. Once it's been downloaded and correctly installed, you can enjoy the fully moddable experience of this Ace of Spades inspired game!

David Williams has been working on a voxel engine add on for unity3D that renders voxel maps however a license will be required for maps bigger then2 56x256x256. Also, now that the free version of unity has shadows he was able to test it out using Influx's Industry map. A demo can be download here. You can also look at jdrew's video of it below:

Our very own Eimis has spent some time creating some excellent frag movies. In the two movies he published, he made Ace of Spades seems like such and easy game by shooting deuces by the dozens. For more information on the movies, check out the topic he created.

You should really add Eimis' second montage to the forum post, it's got some pretty good editing compared to the first.

I'm looking forward to the updated modlaoder, can't wait to have different kv6 models for both teams! It would be even cooler if that would work with the png files and wav files too!

I've made maps before which were mostly Goon Assault remakes and stuff. I have another map in mind right now but mapping is not a priority so it would still probably be a long time.
